Indie's are independant book sellers. Not the major giants like Borders or Barnes and Noble.

They're locally run, non-chain, and now on the web! You can go through the indie link on a blog and it will look up the book and tell you who locally who has it, or, who across the country can ship it.

Prices are about the same as any chain retailer but sometimes you get great deals and you get to support a local business so they can stay in business. How nice is that?

How cool! We live right up the street from a fantastic Joseph Beth and I shop there as much as I can. Although the evils of Amazon free shipping tempt me from time to time...

We used to have a great Indie bookstore in my neck of the woods, but it didn't work out. Now, it's Barnes and Noble or a ridiculously long ride. Or, I suppose, the internet. Sad, really : (
